Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs the use of all services provided by Hostproto. By using any Hostproto service, you agree to comply with this policy, our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and any applicable upstream provider, datacenter, registrar, or network rules that apply to your service.
Hostproto provides services to customers in multiple jurisdictions, and all services may only be used for lawful purposes. Any use of our services that violates applicable local, national, or international laws or regulations is strictly prohibited.
The provisions of this AUP are intended as guidelines and are not exhaustive. Conduct that violates the law, accepted internet standards, upstream provider requirements, or the stability, security, or reputation of our services may be treated as a violation even if not explicitly listed below.
General Prohibited Activity
You may not use Hostproto services to store, publish, transmit, distribute, or facilitate content or activity that is illegal, abusive, fraudulent, infringing, malicious, or harmful to others.
Prohibited activity includes, but is not limited to, copyright infringement, phishing, fraud, scams, malware distribution, credential theft, harassment, unauthorized access, and any activity that may interfere with the operation of our network or third-party systems.
Hostproto reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate any service involved in prohibited activity without notice where necessary to protect our network, customers, upstream providers, or third parties.
Spam & Unsolicited Messaging
All users must comply with all applicable laws and regulations relating to bulk, commercial, or electronic messaging, including anti-spam laws.
Unsolicited bulk email is strictly prohibited. You may not send email to recipients who have not explicitly opted in to receive communications from you. Where requested, you must be able to provide verifiable records of consent for mailing lists and campaigns.
The following activities are prohibited:
Sending unsolicited bulk email or messages, forging message headers, spoofing sender identity, operating insecure or open mail relays, spamvertising, hosting content promoted through spam, using third-party proxy networks for messaging, or facilitating unsolicited bulk communication through email, chat, SMS, forums, comments, or similar platforms.
If your activity causes our IP space, domains, or infrastructure to be blacklisted or filtered, Hostproto may suspend or terminate the affected service.
Network Abuse & Security Violations
You may not use our services for any activity that disrupts, degrades, harms, probes, or improperly accesses any system, network, or service.
Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to, denial of service attacks, distributed denial of service attacks, IP spoofing, port scanning, network scanning, brute force attacks, vulnerability scanning without authorization, exploitation attempts, botnet activity, open proxies, open resolvers, unauthorized tunnelling, malicious automation, and attempts to bypass security restrictions.
Services that create a security risk to our network or other users may be suspended immediately.
Malware, Fraud & Deceptive Conduct
Hostproto services may not be used to host, distribute, execute, or promote malware, ransomware, spyware, phishing kits, malicious scripts, or any content intended to compromise users, systems, or data.
Fraudulent or deceptive activity is prohibited, including scam websites, impersonation, credential harvesting, pyramid or ponzi schemes, fake investment platforms, and other unlawful or misleading schemes.
Resource Abuse
Services may not be used in a manner that places excessive or unreasonable strain on shared infrastructure, storage systems, CPU, memory, disk I/O, network capacity, or related resources.
Resource-intensive or abusive workloads that negatively affect platform stability or other customers are prohibited. This includes activity such as abusive automation, artificial traffic generation, unauthorized large-scale crawling, excessive background processing, and similar misuse.
Hostproto may take action where usage is determined to be unrealistic, excessive, or unsuitable for the service purchased.
File Storage & Website Content
Shared hosting services are intended for website-related content and applications only. They may not be used as a general-purpose storage platform, backup repository, media archive, file locker, cyberlocker, or distribution platform unrelated to an active hosted website.
The following are prohibited on shared hosting services: file dumping, excessive backup storage, leeching, public file hosting, streaming platforms, CDN-style usage, and similar storage-heavy or distribution-heavy use cases not consistent with normal website operation.
Specific Prohibited Uses
Without limiting the above, the following uses are prohibited on Hostproto services:
Pirated or infringing content, open proxies, stressers, booters, mail bombers, SMS bombers, mass mailing tools, IP spoofing tools, denial of service tools, TOR exit nodes, open DNS resolvers, unauthorized tunnelling services, credential or personal data dumps, cryptocurrency mining, artificial traffic generation, vulnerability scanners, brute force tools, cracking tools, botnets, illegal pornography, malicious scripts, card-sharing software, abusive game server activity, and any unlawful, destructive, or malicious activity.
Hostproto may also prohibit additional software, scripts, ports, or services where required by our upstream providers, platform policies, or security standards.
DDoS & Attack Targeting
While our infrastructure may include network protection and mitigation measures, no protection system can guarantee that all attacks will be blocked or absorbed.
If a service is repeatedly targeted by disruptive attacks and those attacks negatively affect our network, systems, upstream providers, or other customers, Hostproto may require mitigation steps, migration, service changes, or suspension of the affected service.
Fair Use
Any unlimited or unmetered service is subject to normal, reasonable, and fair usage. Such services are provided for standard website-related use only and are not intended for disproportionate or abusive consumption of storage, processing power, bandwidth, or related platform resources.
If your usage materially affects service stability, performance, or other users, we may request that usage be reduced, recommend a more suitable service, or suspend the service where necessary to protect the platform.
Shared Hosting Resources
Shared hosting accounts operate within platform resource limits designed to maintain service stability and fairness across all users. These limits may include CPU, memory, entry processes, disk I/O, network activity, email sending, inode usage, or similar restrictions depending on the service.
These limits are not dedicated resources and may be adjusted where necessary for platform integrity, abuse prevention, or operational needs. If your usage consistently exceeds reasonable levels for the plan purchased, we may recommend an upgrade or migration to a more suitable environment.
Email Usage
Outgoing email usage may be subject to hourly or daily sending limits to protect mail reputation and platform stability. These limits apply to all sending methods available through the service, including scripts, applications, forwarding, and mailing list functionality.
Hostproto reserves the right to restrict outgoing mail where necessary to prevent abuse, spam, blacklisting, or service degradation.
Backups
Backups provided by Hostproto are offered as a best-effort courtesy and emergency recovery measure only, unless otherwise explicitly stated in writing. Backup availability, completeness, and restorability are not guaranteed.
Customers remain solely responsible for maintaining their own independent backups of all data, websites, databases, email, and configurations.
Hostproto may remove excessive, unnecessary, temporary, duplicate, or impermissible backup data stored within hosting accounts, including locally stored account backups, CMS backup archives, backup logs, temporary backup files, and similar content where such storage is unreasonable or inconsistent with the intended use of the service.
Enforcement
Hostproto may investigate any suspected violation of this AUP and may take any action it considers appropriate, including content removal, access restriction, suspension, termination, null-routing, service limitation, or cooperation with law enforcement or other authorities where required.
Violations of this AUP may result in immediate action without prior notice where necessary to protect our services, systems, upstream providers, customers, or third parties.
Changes to This Policy
Hostproto may update this Acceptable Use Policy at any time to reflect operational, legal, security, or upstream policy changes. Continued use of our services after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
